Landing at Grand Junction Regional Airport is one part of a Telluride getaway. The next is reaching the right lodging entrance with your bags, winter equipment, and arrival plans accounted for. Before you choose a flight or reserve a ride, think through the whole connection—not simply the airport-to-town leg.

Start with the lodging address, not just “Telluride”

Telluride and Mountain Village are distinct destinations. A reservation described as “Telluride” may place you in the historic town or in Mountain Village, so ask your host for the full street address and the correct vehicle arrival point.

Use Visit Telluride’s maps and the Town of Mountain Village’s trip-planning information to get oriented. Confirm whether your accommodation has a reception desk, a designated unloading area, or instructions for meeting a property manager. Share any access instructions when arranging transportation.

Treat GJT as the beginning of a regional journey

Review Visit Telluride’s getting-here guide when comparing your travel options. If you choose GJT, arrange the onward ground connection before arrival rather than assuming it will be available when you land.

Provide your airline, flight number, travel date, guest count, and lodging address. Keep the airport’s arrivals page handy, and communicate itinerary changes directly with your transportation provider. A flight’s scheduled landing time is not the same as being ready to leave after baggage collection.

Check the connection between town and Mountain Village

The gondola links Telluride and Mountain Village, but seasonal closures matter. As checked November 3, the official visitor gondola page lists the fall closure and a scheduled reopening on November 20, 2026. Recheck the current status for your dates.

Review local parking and transportation information before planning dinners, activities, or a stay without a vehicle. Ask your lodging host how guests reach the property when the gondola is unavailable; do not assume an airport transfer also includes transportation throughout your stay.

Leave room for winter conditions and equipment

Consult COtrip for current road information and CDOT’s winter travel resources before departure. Keep lodging check-in and evening reservations flexible rather than building your first night around a guaranteed arrival time.

Tell your transportation provider how many suitcases, ski or snowboard bags, and other bulky items you are bringing. Passenger capacity and equipment capacity must work together.

For activity ideas, explore Telluride’s winter visitor guide and confirm individual operators’ dates and reservations before committing.

Plan the journey back before your vacation begins

For your return, confirm the pickup address, flight departure, luggage needs, and enough time for the regional road journey and airport check-in. Consult GJT’s departure information and your airline’s instructions when planning the airport portion.

Elevate Rides offers prearranged private regional transportation by arrangement, with up to six guests subject to luggage and equipment capacity. Share your complete itinerary when requesting transportation so suitability and availability can be confirmed.

Request transportation online at least 12 hours ahead. For requests within 12 hours, call or text 970-209-6329, subject to availability.
